Additional date-related information:	Detection date: Gonyaulax polyedra first observed as abundant by program volunteers in June at most sites between Santa Barbara and San Diego. Bloom persisted through July for most areas and into August at a few locations. Tremendous red streamers and patches observed along the coast throughout this period.
