Additional date-related information: With the exception of this one sample above the alert level, we experienced persistent low levels of domoic acid at various locations along the southern California coast from Jan. through Sept. We had a rare bloom of Pseudo-Nitzschia at our monitoring sites in Marin and Sonoma counties, with low levels of DA detected in sentinel mussels (1-5 ppm). This is the first year since 2000 that we did not experience significant DA concentrations above the alert level.
