Additional information: Some seasonal variation was observed with Okadaic acid begin the dominant toxin in the early part of the season (May-mid August) and DTX-2 begin dominant thereafter.
Economic losses: Losses in the industry in the sothwest of the country resulting from contamination of shellfish with DSP toxins have been estimated in 1.2 million of pounds.
