Toxin Assay Information

Species containing the toxin Toxin type Toxin details Max. concentration Assay type
Kit used: Yes Type of kit used: Abraxis
Additional information: NJ Fish and wildlife suspected botulism due to shallow warm water with low oxygen, their pathology results were inconclusive, so we tested the GI tract and livers of 2 birds for brevetoxin, results were negative.
Economic losses:
Management decision: Tested for toxin and collected additional water samples to monitor the nearest shellfish waters, bloom turned out to be isolated to a small lagoon area.
